Each year, hundreds of volunteers wake up early, line the streets of our community to sell a special edition of our local newspaper to passing motorists.  All to support  United Way of Greater Niagara!

The proceeds from this event allow us to continue to invest in programs that affect the well-being of our community.  Programs that strive to enhance the Education, Health and Income of our residents. Through your kindness and generosity last year, your investment into our community provided:

  • Food assistance to 2,597 families through county wide food pantries.

  • 1,824 hot nutritious meals at local soup kitchens and day programs.

  • Disaster Services for 46 families.

  • Financial literacy/free tax preparation to 1,837 people.

  • A safe place for 45 runaway youth to stay.

Make a difference day 2016

In total, 33,537 individuals and families were supported in 2015.  In addition to your support today, I’d also like to thank the union leaders and longtime partners at the Niagara-Orleans AFL-CIO Labor Council.  Members of the local labor unions are active and contributory members of our organization and more importantly, our community; working to keep our roads safe, our neighborhoods secure, caring for us when we are ill, building new spaces for home and work, manufacturing innovative products, and providing education, support and encouragement to our children.

A special thank you to our partners at the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal and Niagara Gazette.  Make A Difference Day would not be possible without their donation of time, resources and print space to bring this special edition of the morning newspaper to you. Their generosity in helping to spread the United Way message is an invaluable gift of support for our mission of service to the community.
